I dunno, man: most country music post-2000 is pretty terrible, and people like Kenny Chesney are almost directly to blame.

I don’t think I agree that *most* post-2000 country is terrible, but I agree that there’s a lot of it. 90s country was the golden age.

As far as Kenny, in the article I linked he actually does admit that he’s upset with the Bro Country movement even though he definitely helped start it. But now he’s doing songs like “Guys Named Captain” and “Gulf Moon”.

Everyone has their ups and downs I suppose.

For a second when I saw Baby Blue come up I was thinking of a different song, but I liked this one as well; I don't know country music overmuch, except for Carrie Underwood and that one song with the Louisville Slugger (points for my home city!), and Jolene. I think those count as country?

Lord of the Flies, yikes. Read that one time. That poor kid with the glasses. You don't do that to kids with glasses. I am one; I took that personally.

Before He Cheats and Jolene are both certainly country songs! I’m not a huge fan of Carrie Underwood’s voice but she is a country singer. I wouldn’t say they’re the BEST country songs though…

Lord of the Flies is the most overrated high school assigned reading IMO, it’s just kind of… meh, especially compared to works like The Canterbury Tales or The Count of Monte Cristo.

I haven't read the Canterbury Tales, but the Count of Monte Cristo is one of my favorites. Read it several times. I went through one audiobook with John Lee as the narrator and he was great, which about *killed* me when I realized the translation was missing several bits ,like that one chapter at the end when he revisits his old home. Shadows of the Past, or something like that. Bill Homewood seems all right as an alternate, but... c'est tragique.
