Hey, everyone.
Happy Easter! Christ is Risen! (It is still, in fact, the Easter season.)
Welcome back to The Collect for Link’s Links. Today is Friday, April 26th. Here are some things I found interesting this week, and think you should check out too:
Link’s Links, April 26th
Read: This week I learned that there are only 344 Papal Encyclicals (according to GCatholic.org) and, as far as I can tell, they are all available (along with additional types of documents like Papal Bulls and Apostolic Constitutions) on PapalEncyclicals.net. The very first Papal Encyclical, Ubi Primum by Benedict XIV (not to be confused with Benedict XVI, the most recent Benedict) in 1740, is a short and sweet read on the duties and responsibilities of bishops. Check it out here.
Listen: This week saw me publish a short essay on why I love country music, and as mentioned there I’ve been listening to a lot of it now that Lent is over. If you’d like to join me, go listen to the song Good Beer by Seaforth and Jordan Davis. Check it out on Spotify or YouTube.
Support AND Learn: Fellow Substacker
is currently funding a Kickstarter for her debut album, which is all about geology and the human experience. Even though it’s not country, I think it’s going to be great! I’m super excited to get my copy of the album, and I encourage all of you to also check out the Kickstarter page here.Pray: Guess what! It’s still Easter! Rejoice in the Resurrection by praying through the five ‘Alleluia’ Psalms (Psalms 146-150) which all begin in the Hebrew with the word הללו-יה (Hallelu-yah) meaning ‘Praise God’. A link to the first one is here.
