Hey, everyone.
Happy Easter! Christ is Risen!
Welcome back to The Collect for Link’s Links. Today is Friday, April 19th. Here are some things I found interesting this week, and think you should check out too:
Link’s Links, April 19th
Read: I normally try to recommend things in this section that can be examined and enjoyed in a short period of time; but today, I instead recommend a full book, Christianizing Death by Frederick Paxton. It’s one of my readings for grad school and a fascinating look at the historical development of the Christian ritual surrounding illness, death, and burial. You can find it on Amazon or wherever books are sold.
Listen: The new Taylor Swift album. I cannot recommend the new Taylor Swift album because I haven’t listened to it, so instead I recommend “Nothin’ Crazy,” a Megan Moroney song which is simultaneously hilarious and a little too on the nose. Check it out on Spotify and YouTube.
Watch: Inspired by
and his live-notes, I recently watched the first few episodes of the old X-Men animated show and let me just say… the nineties live on. If you’ve got some time this weekend, you should at least put the first episode on and appreciate a cultural marvel. Check it out on Disney+.Pray: Our celebration of the Resurrection continues! This Sunday is commonly called Good Shepherd Sunday, because the Gospel in which Christ calls himself the Good Shepherd is read at Mass. In that theme, I encourage all of you to pray this weekend with Psalm 23, which begins, “The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.”

I have a complicated relationship with Psalm 23. Maybe someday I'll write about it.
And it gets better! There's one episode later on I haven't got to in my rewatch yet where Wolverine and Nightcrawler talk theology! It's good stuff, let me tell you.
